01 / Overview

Why people look it up

MOTS-C became popular as a possible 'exercise' or metabolism peptide after mouse studies reported effects on insulin sensitivity, physical performance, and weight-related biology.

Mouse experiments reported improved metabolic outcomes. Read source ↗

  • Exercise capacityANIMAL / PRECLINICAL EVIDENCE

Treatment improved physical performance in mice; human participants only had endogenous levels measured after exercise. Read source ↗

What the account says: Poster described hives, bruising, and prolonged itching. BPC-157, L-carnitine, and cardarine were also used, so perceived results cannot be attributed to MOTS-c.

What has actually been studied?

How we read studies ↗

Experiments in mice show metabolic and exercise-related signals. A human exercise study measured the body's own MOTS-C response; it did not test MOTS-C treatment in people.

Evidence limits: Human studies cited here measured the body’s own MOTS-c during exercise; they do not establish benefits or dosing from administering this vial.

Product status: Research-vial listings are not FDA-approved medicines. Approved-use labels on this page refer only to the named finished prescription product.

Human research

Acute exercise and circulating mitochondrial-derived peptides 2021

What was found: Circulating MOTS-c showed an upward pattern after endurance exercise, but the group-by-time difference was not statistically significant (P = 0.17). Humanin did increase significantly. No MOTS-c was administered.

Main limit: Small exercise study measuring endogenous peptide, not dosing an external product.

How researchers think it might work

MOTS-c is a peptide made from mitochondrial genetic material. Researchers study how its levels relate to exercise and metabolism.

Vial & syringe math

Change the vial total and final liquid volume to see what each U-100 syringe mark represents.

The starting 1 mL is a math example. Enter your final mixed volume to update the numbers.

Concentration (mg per mL)—
In 1 U-100 syringe unit—
In 10 U-100 syringe units—

100 U-100 syringe units = 1 mL. These results assume the labeled amount is evenly mixed through the final liquid volume.
